How to Clean Dairy Containers for Recycling the Lazy Way

Cleaning containers for recycling has its own ironies. It can take a fair bit of water and elbow grease to remove some of the stuck-on or greasy gunk on the plastic containers used for dairy products. This article provides a very simple cleaning method if you have a dog or cat; it's also partly the owner's revenge as it finally gets the pets to earn a little of their keep...
Steps
- Finish your dairy product container. Suitable containers for a dog or cat to clean out include butter and margarine tubs, ice cream containers, yoghurt pots, cream containers etc.
- Set it down before your dog or cat.
- Leave it for them to lick it clean. The results will vary depending on the pet's like of the item or interest in cleaning it all out.
- Wipe out any remaining pieces and toss the container into the recycling bin.
- Kick back and have a cuppa to relax.
Tips
- Dogs are more likely to help out regularly; cats are more likely to cotton on to what you're really up to and get into a stink and stop helping out around the house. Don't take it personally; cats are just wise to what their owners get up to.
- Don't do this with overweight pets or pets who have reactions to dairy products.
