How to Not Get Bored when the Power Goes Out
When the power goes out, do you think that without the computer and TV there is nothing to do?! These contraptions haven't existed until recent times and people found plenty to do in the past without lights, TV and computers. So here are some suggestions to get the entertainment going in the dark. Just get some candles and flashlights first! Of course, it'll be a little hard to read this at the time, so read it now while you can and ferret away the information for the power-loss times.
Steps
- Play cards. Get your family around a table and play card games like Go fish, War, Bridge and many other games!
- Watch movies on a portable DVD player. If it is fully charged,you should be able to watch at least 3 hours of movies.
- Get a good book to read. And make sure that you will be interested in the book or it might get boring,and thats what we are trying to avoid. Right?
- Color or paint in a coloring book. It may sound childish, but it is a fun activity to do when the power goes out. It gives you a chance to be creative.
- Exercise. It may sound not fun and hard to do with no power,but there are some things you can do. Such as run around your house 10 times or do 100 jumping jacks. Its fun and a great way to stay in shape.
- Eat. Although you are limited on what you can eat because you cannot cook, there are tons of great snacks. Some include: Granola bars, dry cereal, cookies, sandwiches, cold pizza, cold pasta, chips and salsa, brownies and more. Get creative. Cold chicken is a very good choice.
- Listen to music on your iPod. Your iPod can be very entertaining; just make sure to keep it charged at all times. There are games, music,videos, podcasts, radio stations, TV shows and more.
Tips
- Get tons of candles. They should go all around your house to provide light.
- Make sure your iPod and DVD player are fully charged.
- Have a hand-cranked radio on hand. Or one that runs on batteries.
- Remember you cant cook while your power is out.
- If it is hot, keep wet washcloths in the freezer and put them on your forehead when the power goes out to avoid getting too hot.
- Have plenty of batteries in store.
